Northern Trust reshuffles leadership team

Northern Trust has made a number of leadership appointments, effective January 1, 2026. Clive Bellows, president of EMEA, and Guy Gibson, global head of institutional banking & markets, have been appointed co-presidents of Asset Servicing, succeeding Teresa Parker, who will retire after more than 40 years with Northern Trust. Melanie Pickett, head of asset servicing for the Americas, will assume the newly created role of chief transformation officer, leading the design and execution of initiatives firmwide that accelerate innovation and adapt to changes in the market. All three will report to Mike O’Grady, CEO. Gibson and Pickett will join Bellows as members of the Northern Trust leadership team.

Bellows, who will continue as EMEA president, joined Northern Trust in 2011 and has held a number of leadership positions, including head of global fund services for EMEA and country head for Ireland. Gibson, who will continue to lead institutional banking and global markets, joined Northern Trust nearly a decade ago through the acquisition of Aviate Global LLP, which he co-founded. Pickett, who was named head of asset servicing for the Americas at the beginning of 2025, joined Northern Trust in 2017. No announcement has been made about her successor.

The appointments follow an interregnum after Pete Cherecwich, formerly president of asset servicing, was appointed COO at the end of 2024. Teresa Parker deferred her previously announced retirement and replaced Cherecwich as president of asset servicing.
